If you have too much protein on keto your body converts some of it into sugar and you go out of ketosis. That might be why you felt better at the gym, and had more energy when you upped the protein content?

Dairy and nuts are a grey area for Keto, especially peanuts and nut butters. Some people do fine, Some it kicks out. Of all the meats I found bacon works the best for me because of it's high monounsaturated fat content. It's all in how your body reacts to everything and that takes trial and error

I give you guys I know Flex on this video because your only perspective was how easy it was to stay on the diet and you completely ignored the Myriad of health benefits of being on a ketogenic diet including reduced inflammation, decreased chance of a wide variety of diseases, increased brain function and many other benefits that I am not scientifically qualified to delve into.

You can go 100g carbs and still be in solid ketosis (>0.3 mmol/l), especially if you're jacked (your muscles soak it up like a sponge) and working out hard (depleting those glycogen stores).
But on the other spectrum there are people getting kicked of ketosis eating just over 20g of carbs, mostly sedentary and metabolically deranged ones (talking pre-diabetes or worse). So there you have to start very low but then if you get to exercise more, grow more muscles, getting your insulin in check you can easily ramp it up to 50-70g of carbs.
The goal isn't to stay in ketosis all the time (except for therapeutic reasons like epilepsy, cancer ... or for ultra high demands in high altitude, deep diving ...) but just most of the time.

It is interesting to see that IF and OMAD come naturally in play once you are used to the diet, they really seem to work synergistically.

And I'm glad to see that you've included vegetables. There are some misrepresentations of keto like drinking butter and eating just meat, eggs and cheese all the time.
It has to be kept diverse (the same is true for carnivores eating just muscle meat instead from nose to tail) otherwise it will be just another not sustainable fad diet.

So imho you guys are still keto. You want to begin strict and then modify it to your needs. Perfect job!

Most people who think they are in ketosis are actually in gluconeogenesis. To truly be in ketosis yer breath would smell like nail polish remover. I have plenty of buds who are zero carb and those who are low carb.

I've read some scientific studied that show eating a diet too high in fat for too long will clog arteries. What are the long term effects of keto for say, decades? And also, what effect long term does all that fat and low carbs do to the liver? I think the problem is when people want to get insanely buff and ripped but in doing so compromise their long term health. These guys who're grotesquely muscular, do so, I guarantee it, at the compromise of their long term health.

Hi, with your amunt of muscle I'm pretty sure you can eat over 50g carbs and stil be in ketosis. Some IF might also make it easier. Also remember that some sort of whole grains are calculated as Carbs on the package, but don't affect the insuline level. You'll also find that food with extremely low GI levels like you mentiend "nuts" will not kick you out of ketosis as easily.

FORCE MEDIA You most likely experienced Keto Flu. Not everyone gets it and depending on the person can last a few days to a week. Usually caused by carb withdraw/ low electrolytes. Try to stay hydrated on keto and increase your electrolytes. They have packets of powder at the grocery store or pharmacy you can add to your water to keep your electrolytes in check. Powerade Zero is good as well just limit to 1-2 bottles a day as it does have sugar substitute that can throw you out of Ketosis if you have too much. If you find you still get keto flu you will just have to ride it out for a few days.

FYI: I am not a doctor. I keto every now and again and have experienced keto flu and rash before.

I was about 20lbs overweight for around a year. The only thing I changed was going Paleo with an 8 hour feeding window, and I dropped that fat in about 2 months. No crash, no urge to cheat. Felt great.
