Actually Silent Light, Bloody Night (1972) was a slasher about Xmas that was released 2 years before this.

The first horror to use the POV shot wasn't actually this movie. It was Peeping Tom made in 1960. I'd also argue Peeping Tom is the first slasher.

The POV shot is awesome in Peeping Tom because it's a movie about a voyeuristic serial killer. Seeing through their eyes is thematically brilliant.

The only slasher movie that unnerved me as an adult. It's that good. And to think this is the first time anyone had seen many famous horror tropes. Including the very first "the calls are coming from inside the house".

And ya, Peter fuckin ROCKED that piano!

Hi! You're mostly right, but Black Christmas wasn't the 1st Xmas-themed horror movie. "Silent Night, Bloody Night" predates it by 2 years (1972), and includes a phone call from within the house (upstairs), the killer's point-of-view shots, etc. All of the prints I've been able to find -- & I've really tried -- are cut terribly, so at least Black Christmas got a better release. It apparently made a "killing," if you will, in its home country of Canada, but a lousy distribution in the U.S. (its title was changed so ppl wouldn't think it was a blaxploitation film, so common at the time), and didn't do as well. OH well.

The film was not a slasher.
                                      It wasn't actually very good.
                                      Visually it was brilliant.

Maybe the house lady is Billy's mom. I mean if the house was Billy's childhood home his mom might still live there and also her drinking might be linked to her son killing the rest of her family.

The last phone call could be for Peter's death. Since the police showed up before Billy could make the call.

Those calls are super nasty to listen to, but so effective. There were a couple voices used for the killer and were edited together; one is even director Bob Clark

Couldn't stand this movie, it had a lot of good things about it but it just pissed me off how fucking stupid everyone was. Everyone goes missing and nobody thinks "Hey we should search the house thoroughly!" And then when fucking MORON Jess hears Barb screaming she goes up there doesn't even THINK that maybe "l thought a stranger was in here" could mean you know.. someone tried to kill her... But Nooooooo Jess just fucking ignores her completely and just like goes downstairs to never check on her again. What a fucking moron jesus christ. I couldn't care about Jess after that Barb thing it just infuriated me and I found the movie basically unwatchable after that.

Hey, FoundFlix. I'm not sure if you've ever done this or not, but I was wondering if you could do the Timeline Explained for the Final Destination series? Why Mr. Death (I know he has a name, but still) always explains the survivors that the Reaper is pissed, like he's either experienced it before? How come the "symbol of death" is introduced by the wind and/or a scary shadow? And how The Final Destination takes place at the same time the first Final Destination movie?

If you combine the story of the abortion plot with billy and angus, it seeme like maybe he got his sister pregnant, and used that same line about abortion being akin to getting a watt removed, the screams of agnis being billy attempting to “give her and abortion” in some way or another either legitimately killing her or her death being a byproduct of a dangerous abortion. This could have led to him forming this psychosis, and why he killed all of the women but kept them around.

I've been watching horror films since I was a little girl. Growing up in the 80s, I saw all of the classics on VHS. Friday the 13th, Halloween, A Nightmare on Elm Street, etc. None of them scared me. Only Black Christmas did. I was terrified. Such a great film!
